Jeffie Brewer’s BHD is almost too fun for words. A minimalist piece that stands out with its bright red face and pale blue bird, it’s an attention-grabber for anyone making the drive down Norcross Street. Brewer fearlessly embraces playfulness and humor with his piece, which, from the right perspective, appears to gobble cars off the roadway!
BHD (which stands for Bad Hair Day)looks like it’s made out of construction paper instead of steel. With a look of surprise, this big red head is perpetually mid-gasp as if looking in the mirror at its devastating bird’s nest of a hairdo. Perched atop its coiffe is a playful bird in blue, which offers a lovely bit of contrast and space for imagination to wander.
Brewer believes that the shared experience of existing, living, loving, thinking…seeing beauty, knowing fear, feeling passion, and just being is further magnified through art – creating, discussing, collaborating, learning and teaching.
